Everybody runs. A 2002 AI film directed by Steven Spielberg.
In 2054 Washington D.C., a specialized police department called PreCrime uses three psychics called ‘precogs’ to predict and prevent murders before they happen. When Chief John Anderton is himself predicted to commit a murder, he goes on the run to prove his innocence.
The film raises profound questions about free will, predetermination, and the ethics of punishing people for crimes they haven’t yet committed. The precogs themselves exist in a morally ambiguous space between human and technological tool.
Spielberg’s vision of the future, with its gesture-based interfaces and personalized advertising, has proven remarkably prescient.
