🤩 3 FREE Microsoft’s AI Apps You Can Use
So many people pay tens of dollars for AI tools, and you could use Microsoft’s AI tools for free and on your phone!
I am a big fan of using AI on smartphones (and for free haha)
Let’s check them out!
-
Edge browser: If you have a browser Microsoft Edge, you can use Copilot (previously Bing Chat) to browse the web, summarize articles, write posts, etc.
-
Copilot app: This is probably the best alternative for ChatGPT Plus. You can use it for text-to-text, speech-to-text, image-to-text, text-to-image, and other kinds of generations.
-
Designer app: This is like Canva on steroids but it’s currently in Beta testing. It’s great for graphics of all kinds. It should be fully available to the public soon!
📰 BIG AI News
1. 🚘️ Driveless cars are reportedly safer by a lot: Waymo’s driverless cars saw an impressive 85% reduction in injury crashes and 57% fewer police-reported crashes per mile compared to human drivers. In specific cities like Phoenix and San Francisco, the data is even more promising, showing 80% and 70% reductions in injury crashes, respectively. Amid growing public skepticism and negative media narratives about autonomous vehicle safety, Waymo’s data suggests a more positive and safer direction for this technology.
We published two new papers: one that compares the Waymo Driver’s crash rates to human drivers’ over 7M+ rider-only miles across Phoenix, San Francisco, and Los Angeles; and another that develops clear human crash benchmarks to enable such comparison.

2. 🍎 Apple quietly released their own open source AI model: In October 2023, Apple, in collaboration with Columbia University, released an open source multimodal LLM named Ferret, aimed solely for research purposes without a commercial license. This release marks Apple’s significant entry into the open source LLM landscape. Alongside, Apple announced technological breakthroughs in deploying LLMs on iPhones, including new techniques for 3D avatars and efficient language model inference. These advancements are set to enhance visual experiences and enable complex AI systems to operate on consumer devices.
3. 🤖 Google Bard Advanced is coming, but it likely won’t be free: Google is poised to introduce Bard Advanced, potentially its first AI chatbot that might transition to a subscription model after an initial free period. This advanced chatbot will be powered by Gemini, Google’s latest AI language model, which comes in three variants: Ultra, Nano, and Pro. AI wars continue! ⚔️
