📰 Crazy AI News
1. 💸 OpenAI tops $1.6 billion in yearly revenue: OpenAI’s annual revenue has soared to $1.6 billion, marking a significant increase from $1.3 billion in mid-October, primarily due to the success of ChatGPT. Very short news, but it’s enough for you to understand that AI is going nowhere and it is still worth it building AI companies or working in AI companies.
2 🤑 AI researchers earn up to $865,000 yearly at OpenAI: The AI job market is thriving, with a high demand for talent in machine learning, especially in fields like computer vision, robotics, NLP, biology, and neuroscience. Top companies like Anthropic, Tesla, OpenAI, Google Brain, and Amazon are offering lucrative initial packages for AI researchers. Successful negotiation, leveraging skills and competitive offers, can lead to significant increases in compensation. For instance, an AI research scientist named Joe achieved a 243% raise in total compensation at Google by effectively using offers from other companies and building strong internal relationships.
3. 👁️ AI is better than any human in identifying photo locations: PIGEON, an AI trained on half a million Google Street View images, excels at the location-guessing game GeoGuessr, outperforming influencer Trevor Rainbolt in several rounds. With a remarkable 92% accuracy in country identification and over 90% precision within 25 miles, PIGEON showcases its ability to pinpoint locations, even personal photos, to within blocks or miles. Its success lies in analyzing details like foliage and weather patterns, often overlooked by humans.
